This cycle tour is perfect for those in search of a quiet and peaceful cycle tour with impressions of both nature and culture. You will ride between the fjords and mountains out to the open sea to a traditional North Norwegian village, as it appeared in the early 20th century.
You can start this trip from either Nordfjordbotn, at the head of the Kattfjorden on the outer coast of the island of Kvaløya outside Tromsø, or at Lauklines, which is 5km west of Nordfjordbotn.
From here, we cycle along a quiet, one-way country road to the small traditional village of Vasstrand. Out here, there is a view towards Sommarøy to the south and the open sea to the west. From the turning bay at Vasstrand, you can stroll along the beach out to a little lighthouse. The return walk takes only about half an hour and you can experience the waves hitting the beach. On the return journey, you may stop at the historic Tulleng wharf, which features old fishermen’s cottages, a factory for salting cod and a shop.
The entire trip is on flat, sealed roads. You require only normal cycling skills to complete this route. As the weather can change quickly in Northern Norway, we recommend you bring waterproof jacket/trousers on all our cycling tours.
